At the Montessori School of Chantilly, we understand that as parents you are eager for your children to have the best possible educational experience! We believe that a child can reach their full potential with the proper guidance and knowledge from an early age.
Therefore, here are four skills that your children should be able to develop before they start their Montessori Pre-Kindergarten year. If you have any questions regarding our program or school or would like to begin the enrollment process, get in touch with us today — we are here to help!

Communication
A child should be able to effectively communicate with their peers and teachers by speaking clearly and expressing themselves in a meaningful way. They should also be comfortable listening, following directions, and asking questions when something is unclear.

Self-Care
Children should be able to take care of their basic needs independently, such as using the restroom, washing hands and face, dressing themselves, and brushing their teeth. Self-care is a crucial skill that lays the groundwork for the development of greater independence and responsibility.

Fine Motor Skills
By the time children reach Pre-K, they should be able to draw simple lines and shapes and cut paper with scissors. They should also be able to manipulate small objects, thread beads, open containers, put on their shoes and socks, etc. Fine motor skills can look different in each child.

Cognitive Development
A child should have a basic understanding of numbers, shapes, and colors and how to be creative in problem-solving. They should also be able to identify letters and sounds as well as begin to understand conversational skills.
At the Montessori School of Chantilly, we strive to provide the best possible environment to help your child reach these goals. With our support, your children will have all the tools necessary for a successful start in their educational journey! Begin your enrollment journey today.
